The National Weather Service understands the critical value of fast, accurate weather and water information. We know that information is power – the power to save your life or the lives of your loved ones.

Over the last ten years, more than 5,000 people have died in the U.S. as a result of tornadoes, tropical storms, hurricanes, floods, lightning strikes, and extremes of heat or cold. During the same period, hazardous weather events caused over $150 billion in property damage.

Severe weather can be a dangerous and costly enemy. The more we know about the weather and the better we understand it, the safer we will be when it threatens us.

We believe the JetStream Online School for Weather will provide educators, emergency managers, or anyone interested in learning about weather and water with comprehensive, well-organized, colorfully illustrated curricula designed to help teach about the wonders and dangers that abound in the Earth's atmosphere.

We also invite you to explore the National Weather Service web site at www.weather.gov. From our homepage, you need only provide the name of a city or zip code for an instant link to weather information for your area of interest.

Products include a detailed seven-day forecasts, continually updated radar and satellite images and time loops, current weather conditions, as well as additional forecasts and information (including forecast discussions, fire weather forecasts, NOAA Weather Radio and preparedness information, hydrology and river information, local climatology, and a guide to NWS products and services).
