Solar minimum - the period when the sun is least active - is seen in this image from the Solar Ultraviolet Imager aboard NOAA's GOES-East satellite on Dec. 15, 2019. Scientists at NOAA and NASA have officially determined and announced (September 15, 2020) that we are now in Solar Cycle 25, which started in December 2019.
