NOAA’s Office of Education has selected 128 Ernest F. Hollings undergraduate scholars for the class of 2026-2028. Scholars receive a two-year academic scholarship for their junior and senior years, a paid summer internship opportunity, and funding to participate in up to two national scientific conferences.

This year, 829 students applied for this competitive scholarship. The selected applicants come from 95 different campuses in 40 U.S. states, Guam, and Washington, D.C.
Class of 2026 scholar home states and academic institution locations
The Hollings undergraduate scholars will attend orientation from June 2 - June 4, 2026, and complete their 10-week internships at a NOAA facility during the summer of 2027.
During orientation, the scholars will learn about NOAA’s line offices and how each supports NOAA’s mission and vision. They will hear from and network with NOAA leadership and staff. Through trips to local NOAA facilities, they will see some of NOAA’s ongoing work in action.
The scholarship application period for the class of 2027 Hollings undergraduate scholarship opens on September 1, 2026, and closes on January 31, 2027.
