Event Details
On July 19, 2022, the Subcommittee on Ocean Science and Technology (SOST) hosted a virtual Opportunities and Actions in Ocean Science and Technology Roundtable to engage with the broader ocean science and technology (S&T) community from across sectors on innovative and novel ideas to advance Federal ocean S&T priorities.
After an open call for ideas, the SOST received many submissions from across sectors for lightning talks (3 minutes each). The SOST selected 20 to present at the Roundtable in four sessions based on the cross-cutting topics of the 2022 SOST O&A Report: (1) Climate Change; (2) Resilient Ocean S&T Infrastructure; (3) A Diverse and Inclusive Blue Workforce; (4) All Together Now: Jointly Addressing All 3 Themes.
Each Session included 5 lightning talks followed by small-group discussions on each theme. Speakers represent numerous sectors from academia, industry, philanthropy, NGOs, State government, Indigenous communities, regional ocean partnerships, aquariums, and education organizations.
