Although known as the Great Miami Hurricane, it also devastated parts of theGulf Coast. It besieged Pensacola for 20 hours on September 20 with hurricaneforce winds. Apparently these photos were taken from a Navy aircraft followingthe hurricane passage and passed to then Lieutenant Schoppe who was commandingofficer officer of a C&GS; ship engaged in post storm surveys.
