The Mickey Mouse Salt Domes as they were called by Paul Grim ofNOAA's EEZ mapping program in 1989. These domes were first surveyed by theNOAA Ship MT. MITCHELL, the largest dome being named Mitchell Dome for theship. Whiting Dome, named for the NOAA Ship WHITING is the large dome to theNW. These are among the largest salt domes in the Gulf of Mexico.
