Perry Finney Brody is a NOAA senior advisor.

Prior to joining NOAA in September 2021, Brody worked in the Executive Branch and on Capitol Hill for 28 years, handling national security, space, and science portfolios. She began her government service in legislative affairs at NOAA, focusing on the National Weather Service and NESDIS, as well as the Department of Commerce’s then Office of Space Commercialization.

In 1995, she joined the legislative team of former Congressman Bud Cramer (AL-5), a senior member of the House Committee on Science, Space & Technology, as his policy lead on space, science and defense. Two years later, Ms. Brody accepted a position with former Congressman Silvestre Reyes (TX-16), a member of the House Armed Service Committee (HASC), as his main advisor on national security issues, and in 2001, she became his chief of staff.  She served in that capacity during his time as a senior member of the HASC, as chair of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus, and as chair of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence. When Congressman Reyes retired, Brody began her tenure with Congressman Filemon Vela (TX-34), as his chief of staff and most recently as his chief counsel, where she led his efforts to foster the growing commercial space industry in South Texas.

Brody was raised in Birmingham, Alabama. She graduated from Vanderbilt University and earned her J.D. at Vanderbilt University School of Law.
