Down Under, Out Yonder

Scuba teacher workshop

The annual Down Under, Out Yonder workshop is for K-12 and college entry educators nationwide. Down Under, Out Yonder is a five-day teacher workshop that includes a two-day land-based workshop and three days of scuba diving in Flower Garden Banks National Marine Sanctuary.

A scuba diver swims amid a school of fish at Flower Garden Banks National Marine Sanctuary.

Eligibility: Formal and informal educators must be SCUBA certified to participate in the field experience (non-divers have the option of just doing the two-day Galveston classroom portion of the workshop).

Important dates: Registration materials are available early in the year and the workshop is usually offered in June or July each summer.
