NOAA’s education programs leverage the public investment in the agency’s scientific enterprise, providing the education community with access to world-class scientists, research, and data. NOAA coordinates with other science agencies that make similar investments through interagency committees and working groups. Collectively, these agencies seek to enhance STEM and environmental literacy and develop the next generation of scientists and natural resource managers. These collaborative groups include:
- The Committee on STEM Education under the Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP), co-chaired by OSTP and the National Science Foundation (NSF).
- The Interagency Working Group on Ocean Education under the National Ocean Council, co-chaired by NOAA and NSF.
- The Interagency Working Group on Climate Education under the U.S. Global Change Research Program, co-chaired by NOAA, NSF, and NASA.
- The Mid-Atlantic Education Workgroup under the Chesapeake Bay Executive Orderoffsite link, chaired by NOAA.
