NOAA to issue El Niño forecast update on Dec. 10

NOAA’s Climate Prediction Center will host a media teleconference to discuss its monthly update to the El Niño forecast, the anticipated winter impacts for the United States, and comparisons to previous strong El Niño events on Thursday, Dec. 10 at 11 a.m. ET.

El Niño developed in March 2015 and is now among the strongest on record dating back to 1950. El Niño is predicted to influence weather and climate patterns this winter.  In CPC’s November update, forecasters predicted El Niño would peak in winter and gradually weaken through spring 2016.
