Media advisory: National Weather Service director to brief media on agency’s plan to transform its science and services
NWS is evolving its operations, workforce and organizational structure to bring more nationwide consistency to the science and service it delivers. At the end of this evolution, NWS will provide modern customer service to meet the needs of 21st century America. Public safety partners will know what to expect from the agency and will receive the support they need to make critical life-saving decisions as they face weather, water and climate events.
With extreme weather on the rise and an increasingly vulnerable population, NWS requires a modern service delivery model to meet the growing needs of American communities. Two studies directed by Congress recommended this evolution to continue to meet increasing and changing customer needs.
Please join National Weather Service director Louis Uccellini, Ph.D., and deputy director Laura Furgione, for this online media briefing to learn more about this vision to make the U.S. National Weather Service the best in the world.
