April 14-16, 2011
An outbreak of 177 tornadoes in the central and southern states caused 38 deaths, most of which (22) were in North Carolina. Most of the tornadoes ranged from EF-0 to EF-2, while 14 were EF-3. There were no EF-4 or EF-5 tornadoes. The outbreak caused more than $1.4 billion insured losses, with total losses greater than $2.1 billion.
