Video: Discover NOAA Education

This new video from NOAA Education shows how the agency’s mission of science, service, and stewardship is emboldened by our educational opportunities for students, educators, and grantees. From understanding our changing climate to protecting America's fisheries, NOAA's incredible work creates powerful teaching moments, inspires students to pursue careers, and provides resources to educators everywhere.

Education is a part of NOAA’s mission.

As America’s first science agency, we are always on the cutting edge of new discoveries which shed light on our relationship to the planet.

Weather.  Satellites.  Fisheries.  Research. Vessels and Aircraft.  Our Ocean.

Wherever we live, work, or study, NOAA’s work touches the lives of everybody.  And with every orbit of our satellites, every plunge to the depths of our ocean, every data point gathered from our network of environmental sensors there is a teaching moment.

It’s not just a weather report — its inspiration for the next meteorologist.

It’s not just protecting America’s fisheries — it’s fueling the next generation of marine biologists.

It’s not just understanding our changing climate — it’s empowering people to take part in decisions that affect their communities.

Not only do we develop new technologies to see, hear, and understand a changing environment — we are actively developing future scientists, researchers, and engineers.

That’s why education isn’t a side show in the scientific activities we embark upon at NOAA, it’s an investment in America’s future as we foster a better informed nation and maybe even future employees.

At NOAA, we provide learning opportunities from K-12 and undergrad to post grad and beyond.

Through partnerships, grants, and curriculum bolstered by real-world science, we supercharge science classrooms, catalyze place-based learning, and help make learning fun, engaging, and meaningful.

If you’re an educator — anywhere — chances are we have resources, tools, and programs that will benefit your student’s journey of understanding.

Professional development programs empower teachers with cutting-edge scientific experiences, foster lifelong connections between educators, and bridge the gap between the work of real scientists and the knowledge shared in classrooms.

Educators learn by doing.  And these experiences can be life changing for them and their students.
